Abortion
“If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people to not kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.” (Bojaxhiu 1).In many countries, abortion is illegal, and many doctors do it in private, it’s very dangerous, and women can die during the operation, so many claims appear in the courts, because of these private operations. Abortion is important, because it happens everyday, it’s a controversial topic, and abortion can cause serious psychological impairment to women in the form of depression and guilt.
According to Simon and Schuster:
Over several centuries and in different cultures, there is a rich history of women helping each other to abort. Until the late 1800s, women healers in Western Europe and the U.S. provided abortions and trained other women to do so, without legal prohibitions. The State didn't prohibit abortion until the 19th century, nor did the Church lead in this new repression. In 1803, Britain first passed antiabortion laws, which then became stricter throughout the century. The U.S. followed as individual states began to outlaw abortion. By 1880, most abortions were illegal in the U.S., except those ``necessary to save the life of the woman.'' But the tradition of women's right to early abortion was rooted in U.S. society by then; abortionists continued to practice openly with public support, and juries refused to convict them.
There are many aspects on abortion, religious, psychological, medical and many others. Most religions are against abortion. Abortion has psychological affects on women when they abort in the form of guilt. Also, abortion can affect the health of women when it’s illegal, and they do it in private clinics which are not provided with emergency care. There are two various positions of abortion, one against it and the other for it.  They should not legalize abortion because it’s like murder and against religious values.
Abortion can be defined as pregnancy termination accidentally as in a miscarriage or by choice. In the mid-to-late 1800s, states began passing laws that made abortion illegal, and it became legal in 1973 (“history of abortion” screen 1). Abortion today is legal in America, because they think that women can choose if they want babies or not. Abortion is a controversial topic, because there are two major sides Pro-life and Pro-choice who are against and for it. Pro-lifers believe that the women should not abort because they are killing their children. Pro-choicers believe that the women have the right to do whatever they want with their bodies and nobody can force them to do what they don’t want to do.
Many people and countries are for abortion, because they believe abortion is not murdering a child, and they are known as Pro-choice .They also believe a woman should be able to decide whether or not they want to have babies. People who are for abortion have many reasons. The first one, is women having disabled babies, so the women have to abort him/her, and the percentage of aborting disabled babies as Jimmy Moore stated is his report Abortion Of Disabled Babies Increasing at Alarming Rate on June 1, 2004: “The latest numbers from 2002 found that more women are choosing to abort their babies who may have some form of handicap.  These kinds of abortions spiked by 8 percent over the previous year of Down's syndrome babies, 690 were aborted in 2002, an increase of 17 percent over the 2001 total of 591” (Moore 1). Maybe people can believe that aborting disabled babies is fair, but this is not an excuse, and if the babies are born disabled, that does not mean you can terminate them before they are born. The second reason is that they think it is personal freedom for women to choose if she want babies or not.  It could be true, but is it fair to kill an unborn baby who is still in his/her mother womb, because some people consider this a personal freedom?  These reasons can convince some people, but at last, all these reasons lead to killing babies, so it is murder.
Abortion should not be legal, because it’s considered as first degree murder. “First degree murder occurs when one human being takes the life of another human being, deliberately and with planning” (Cherri 1).This is true; abortion is murder because parents chose to kill their baby’s life before he/she is born. The second reason people think abortion is wrong is because it’s against religious values as stated in an article in BBC.com:
All the religions have taken strong positions on abortion; they believe that the issue encompasses profound issues of life and death, right and wrong, human relationships and the nature of society, that make it a major religious concern.
People involved in an abortion are usually affected very deeply not just emotionally, but often spiritually, as well. They often turn to their faith for advice and comfort, for explanation of their feelings, and to seek atonement and a way to deal with their feelings of guilt. (“Religion and abortion” screen 1).
This is true, because life is sacred and inviolable and the parents will be emotionally affected.
Finally, abortion should not be taken as another way of birth control. Women should know that what they are doing is murder to an unborn child, a moral crime and has a lot of consequences not only to the child but to the woman and the society. Also, it is against religion, because it includes issues of life and death, right and wrong. This topic will continue to be controversial as long as there are two sides that have different ideas and strong facts to support them.
